Guide to Splash Shields

Splash Shields go by many names. They are sometimes called Aprons, Seals, Skirts, or our personal favorite, Liners. They serve a critical role for protecting your vehicle's engine bay, especially when driving in rough conditions.

Why Replace your Liners

Most vehicles use these flexible rubber guards to cover the gap between the frame of your truck and the body that acts a barrier between the road and your engine bay. Our liners are made of durable rubber that is resistant to chemicals, heat, & UV while also standing up to debris kicked up by your tires. These liners are especially critical to have if you drive off-road or live in an area with salt in the winter.

It is it important to have all four liners in place to protect the engine, alternator, battery, and other components from splashing water, mud, dirt, and rocks.

Liner/Splash Shield Location

All liners go in the front wheel well. See image below for a diagram. When we refer to "Front" and "Rear" we are still talking about the front wheels. Those positions refer to their location relative to your front suspension. Front liners go closer to the grill of your truck, while Rear liners go closer to the cab.

Unlike some stores, we offer several different buying options. You can purchase single liners from us, a pair which consists of a Front and Rear for a single set, or a set of all four liners. The first gen Tacoma is the only exception, since that liner only comes as a one-piece Front and Rear.
